We would like to call ourselves a bunch of optimistic fools!
When the whole world is trying to make the best out of torrents and piracy, we decided to come up with a website where one has to pay money and watch movies. Will this work? Will people stop themselves from picking up stolen content? Will they watch movies in good quality? Only time will tell.

I am Pawan Kumar, a film maker. I got the idea of making a dedicated portal for the online release of kannada movies after I did a trial run with my movie Lifeu Ishtene in December 2011. The wonderful response I got for my movie made me realize that our audiences are all over the world. That I don’t have to only cater to people within Karnataka, that I can make movies in kannada and still think global. I wanted all the film makers in kannada film industry to get this facility and that’s how Home Talkies came into picture.

I roped in my friend Surya. He is an actor dabbling with web technology. I made him realize that he is the guiding light for the kannada industry to go hi-tech on the internet, and that he will be immortalized in the history of Kannada movies. As you see, he fell for it!
Through Home Talkies, we want our filmmakers to reach out to all the kannadigas who are in different corners of the globe. We want these kannada audience to watch kannada movies, show it to their children and stop being ashamed of the language. We also want the film makers to think big, to think global, by giving them the audience they thought they never had. Many good kannada films are declared flops because they don’t reach the target audience, but we know that there is an audience for such films and that they are present all over the world. We want such film to reach out to the audience; we want to bring hope to such film makers. The answer we found was – Home Talkies.
From our end, we request you to develop the habit of paying for a movie. A thousand people work for a movie for months together and only a handful of them make loads of money. The rest of us work and earn like you do. You watching a pirated copy of our movie is as good as stealing from us and our families. When you are tempted to watch a pirated copy, ask yourself a simple question – How would your child make a living if he or she was in the movie making business!
Many film producers still don’t believe in Home Talkies. We still went ahead and made this website because we believed in our audience. Don’t let us down.
Do let us know what you think of the site, we are waiting for some feedback and suggestions to improve it further.
